Ethical Issues
Conflicts
To identify and avoid conflicts Counsel On Call requires our attorneys to maintain a conflict log that precisely records information on all assignments. Before beginning work on new assignments, we require our attorneys to verify that there are no conflicts with a potential assignment. Counsel On Call also assists with any additional conflict screening requested by our clients. All Counsel On Call attorneys are licensed.
Confidentiality
Counsel On Call understands the sensitive nature and importance of protecting client confidences, and we treat every client matter as confidential. In addition, all of our lawyers are licensed, understand the ethical obligations of the profession and maintain client confidences.
Licensure
We verify state licensure at least two times per year for each attorney working with Counsel On Call.
Ethics Opinions
Counsel On Call complies with the ethics opinions issued by the American Bar Association pertaining to attorneys working in a contract capacity. In addition, Counsel On Call works in many states, and we receive, review and comply with the different state ethics opinions, if any, when working in a specific jurisdiction.
Included in our Continuing Legal Education classes for our attorneys is one hour on the ethical issues surrounding contract attorneys.
