Terry and her family were very lucky. Their house, in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, sustained very little damage. However, their children's school was flooded with water above the second floor. There were not many options and fewer answers with what would happen if school was delayed or interrupted for the year, which was inevitable. With her daughter, Gabi, about to enter her junior year of high school, and son, Marc, entering high school, Terry knew it was going to be a difficult time.
A successful litigator for more than 10 years in the Greater New Orleans area, Terry also had to think about her practice and her family's finances.
"We'd visited Nashville a couple of times and really liked it, and once we toured the schools in the area we knew we could make it work for the kids," Terry said. "So we packed up and moved to Tennessee. It wasn't easy for them, but they understood the circumstances and adjusted really well. Other people were a lot worse-off than we were."
Terry wanted to work her way into Nashville's legal community as well and found that Counsel On Call was a perfect conduit. Over the last several years, she has worked on a variety of assignments, leads Counsel On Call attorney teams, and has ventured into new areas of law.
