Nancy B. Reiner To Lead Counsel On Call’s New Boston Office

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nancy B. Reiner, a former partner with Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels, LLP, will lead Counsel On Call’s new Boston office as Executive Director, it was announced today. The office opens Monday, May 5.

Reiner worked for Brown Rudnick for 17 years in Boston and has more than 24 years of experience practicing law in the Boston area. She most recently served as a partner in Brown Rudnick’s litigation department, where she originated the Commonwealth of Massachusetts v. Philip Morris, et al. tobacco case, which resulted in an $8.3 billion settlement for the state. Among other distinguished work, Reiner settled several multimillion-dollar environmental insurance recovery cases and led the discovery on behalf of the Commonwealth of more than 6 million documents in the tobacco case.

“Nancy brings a wide range of skills and experience to our Boston office and our management team,” said Jane H. Allen, Counsel On Call’s President & Founder. “She’s a leader, she knows the market and, as a former practicing attorney with a leading firm, has a thorough understanding of potential client needs. She’ll also serve as a wonderful work/life balance advocate for attorneys in the area.”

Counsel On Call’s experienced attorneys work with the nation’s leading corporate legal departments and law firms on an assignment basis – in teams, individually, on-site or remotely. This provides Counsel On Call attorneys control over their work schedules and flexible business solutions to Counsel On Call clients. The company is growing rapidly, being named to Inc. magazine’s 500 ‘fastest-growing’ companies list three times in the last four years. Counsel On Call has expanded to Chicago and Charlotte, N.C., since 2006 and, with the addition of the Boston office, has six total offices.

“This is a perfect opportunity, working with a great company and being in a position to help my fellow attorneys discover a new way to practice law,” said Reiner, named a Boston ‘Super Lawyer’ in 2004 and 2005. “There are also unlimited opportunities to help clients in New England, especially in this economic climate. That’s one of the rewarding aspects of Counsel On Call – the company provides a win-win for our attorneys and clients alike.”

While with Brown Rudnick, Reiner founded and chaired the firm’s successful Incubator Group and Knowledge Management Initiative, was an active member of the Pro Bono Committee and led Brown Rudnick’s sustainability efforts. She also regularly led mediation workshops and conducted seminars and workshops for clients, co-workers and professional groups on complex commercial litigation issues, knowledge management and ADR.

Reiner is also the co-chair and co-founder of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA)’s Law Firm Eco-Challenge, Energy and Environment Task Force, which helps lawyers reduce energy and resource consumption. She is a member of the MBA and the Boston Bar Association.

Reiner previously worked for Goodwin Procter LLP as an associate in the environmental department, and for (former firm) DiCara, Selig, Sawyer & Holt as a litigation associate. She is a graduate of the Northeastern University School of Law (J.D.) and Tufts University (B.A., history and literature, magna cum laude).
