Law Firms | Ensuring Quality

Quality Standards

One of the reasons corporations engage the nation's leading law firms is to ensure that the work they need performed will be handled by well-educated, well-trained and experienced attorneys. Counsel On Call Attorneys have the same education, training and experience — the difference is our attorneys have chosen to practice law in a different way.

The credentials of Counsel On Call Attorneys equal those of attorneys working at AmLaw 200 firms and Fortune 500 companies. In addition, most have at least five years of solid work experience with many having more than a decade of experience.

The typical Counsel On Call Attorney could easily be a partner or be on the partnership track of a major law firm. However, he or she has chosen an alternate career path, a path made possible by Counsel On Call.

Selection Process

An important aspect of why Counsel On Call is able to consistently deliver the well-qualified attorney — one who can step into a particular client situation and have an immediate impact — is our thorough interview process.

Simply put, our selection process is more stringent than the process many law firms and corporate legal departments utilize when making permanent hires.

We understand that it is crucial to provide the perfect attorney for an assignment. That is why:
  • Every person conducting interviews and talking with references at Counsel On Call is a former practicing attorney.
  • Before we can recommend an attorney for an engagement, we have lengthy face-to-face meetings with that attorney. Often that attorney meets with multiple people from our office. During this process we gain an understanding of the attorney's substantive experience, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, personality, drive and other attributes.
  • Writing samples are reviewed depending on the type of work an attorney is seeking.
  • A minimum of three references are checked, including at least one from an attorney who has directly supervised the individual.
  • We verify state licensure and check it twice per year. We also review the attorney's transcript.
  • We conduct a background search and, when requested by the client, drug screen.

Our Diversity

Counsel On Call is a certified Women's Business Enterprise (W.B.E.) through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council and a Small, Minority or Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (S.M.W.B.E.) through the federal guidelines in the Office of Minority Affairs.
